Greening the Church 2018

On Sunday, December 23rd, Holy Family held its annual Greening the Church event. Members of the church decorated the sanctuary with Christmas trees, garlands, and other decorations and made preparations for three Christmas worship services. Following the decorating, congregation members enjoyed a spaghetti dinner prepared by members of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew.  
 
 
 
 
 


Confirmation: December 2018

 
On Sunday, December 16th, The Rt. Reverend Jennifer Baskerville-Burrows, Bishop of the Diocese of Indianapolis, visited Holy Family. Bishop Jennifer celebrated both morning worship services, led an open discussion with congregation members during Christian formation hour, and shared fellowship during a reception following the services. Bishop Jennifer also confirmed or received three members of Holy Family during the 10 AM worship service. Bishop Jennifer spent time meeting with the vestry and finished her visit by contributing to Holy Family’s new podcast called Shortcut to Sunday. Junior Daughter Cookie Exchange 2018

 
On Saturday, December 15th, several members and prospective members of the Junior Daughters of the King at Holy Family gathered with their mothers and other Daughters of the King for a cookie exchange. Participants made holiday crafts and watched a movie. Breakfast with St. Nicholas

On Saturday, December 8th, the Holy Family chapter of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew hosted Breakfast with St. Nicholas. Families enjoyed a variety of breakfast treats including chocolate and peppermint pancakes and participated in crafts and games. St. Nicholas himself joined the gathering to share his story and give the children chocolate coins. St. Nick had a few minutes to take photos with the children before he had to get back to his adventures. Cookout, Campout, and Fireworks

On Saturday, June 30th, the Holy Family Brotherhood of St. Andrew chapter hosted its first cookout, campout, and fireworks viewing celebration. The event took advantage of Holy Family’s location in the Nickel Plate District with ample parking near the new Spark!Fishers Fourth of July celebration. The Brotherhood hosted a pitch-in picnic. Following dinner, many participants walked up Fishers Pointe Blvd. to watch the festival parade. The evening continued with a campfire on the church grounds, offered comfortable fireworks viewing, and provided camping amenities for those who wanted to stay overnight. On Sunday morning, coffee and donuts were available to early risers prior to the 8 AM worship service. Softball Season 2018

 
Holy Family’s softball team finished its first summer church-league season in second place. The team was filled with members of Holy Family’s congregation as well as friends and family members. Celebration of New Ministry

Pentecost Celebration 2018

 
On Sunday, May 20th, Holy Family celebrated the Feast of Pentecost at its 8 and 10 AM services. Many congregation members wore the color red which is the liturgical color for the day. During the 10 AM service, Father Bruce recognized and blessed Sunday school teachers as well as Confirmation and Adult Forum leaders. Finally, Father Bruce recognized graduating senior Ethan Everett. Jeff Waddell and Carly Roth, also graduating seniors, were not able to attend this blessing. Following the service, congregation members and guests enjoyed a pitch-in picnic with entrees grilled by the Brotherhood of St. Andrew. Silent Auction, Spaghetti, and Success!

 
Holy Family’s Youth Group members held a successful spaghetti dinner and silent auction on Saturday, April 28, 2018. Students filled many roles for the evening including running the registration table, serving as host or hostess, manning the buffet and drink tables, servings guests at dinner, and managing silent auction bids.  In addition to tasty spaghetti with meatballs and homemade desserts, guests enjoyed the musical stylings of soprano Hillary Blake and pianist Doug Tannas who shared Italian arias throughout the evening.
 
The youth raised more than $2,000 at the event and wish to thank everyone who generously supported their upcoming mission trip efforts. For information about Holy Family’s Youth Group and mission trip work, please contact Youth Director Marty Blake at mblake@hfec.org.

Alleluia, the Lord risen! The Lord is risen indeed. Alleluia!

 Al Holy Family we celebrated the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ with the joyous ringing of bells, festive songs, and celebration.
